Buildings of Hong Kong

On Tuesday, July 11, Jesse and Tony took me around the Central district of Hong Kong. This is the HQ capital of the city, and it seems each company tries to distinguish itself with memorable buildings.

International Financial Centre (IFC), home of the the most high-end shops in Hong Kong, and probably some important companies too.

The building in front on the water is the Hong Kong Convention Centre, sight of next week's Book Fair : )

I took this pic for you eJ, if you think there are nice shopping malls in Manila, just wait til you see the ones in Hong Kong, this is the Mall in my district called Time Square.

This is the HSBC building. Apparently it was built with a strong investment from the British government shortly before 1997, so the building was built in pieces and without a foundation so it could be dismantled and taken back to Britain if they wanted to. It also is said to have the best Feng Shui of any building in Asia.

This is the old Bank of China building

This is the former Legislative Council building, it was the head of the British government when it was here, now it has Chinese government offices. It definitely shares some features with the Alberta Legislature.

This is the new Bank of China building, it was designed by the same person who designed the entrance to the Louvre in Paris. Who knows... Maybe Mary Magdalene is buried here... hehe
