On Tuesday August 29 I spent the night helping AIESEC Lingnan with their fall recruitment. The event was surprisingly… and delightfully… different from club recruitments in Canada.
First off, Lingnan University arranges an evening where all freshmen have to come to the campus and where all the clubs set-up up booths and try to attract the newbies. The atmosphere was very fun and loud with hundreds of students in the main student plaza.
Also, the attitude of the freshmen is quite different than people’s attitudes in Canada… at least from my perspective; here young people seem very keen to join clubs. I never had to approach people to try to get hem to check out the AIESEC booth… students would continuously just walk up and really express an interest in learning more about the organization and finding out how to get involved.
It was a really great evening and it was very apparent that the AIESEC Lingnan EB team put a lot of time and effort into this event, they did great. In the end more than 100 people bought tickets to the group’s “AIESEC 101” style orientation night… and this is at a University where the student body is only 2000 students!

The Chandigarh LC had 564 applicants...65 made the final cut. Now that's a recruiting drive I'll never be able to wrap my head around.
if only more canadian students were interested in SU clubs like AIESEC i would have more people to boss around hehe.
