New Roommates and Interns and Sad Farewells
January has definitely been a time of turnover in the intern group in Hong Kong, much more than usual. It has been great to meet new friends, and very sad to see some close friends move away, even if it is just down the street, not knowing when we will see each other again.
It has been exciting in the apartment because we now have two new roommates; Frank and Franco. That means that the boys now out number the girls. Actually it will not last for long, because Hilton is now moving to other accommodation in Causeway Bay as we speak (very sad).
New Roomie Profiles:
Name: Frank
Nationality: Dutch
Internship: Marketing Manager for a metal products manufacturing company. MCP’s father is his boss, very lucky
First impressions: Great guy to have in the apartment, very funny, always up for new experiences, appreciator of music, people and life, YEAH!
Name: Franco (not to be confused with Frank, or Panchino)
Nationality: Originally Spanish – now influenced by several other nations
Internship: actually just finished his AIESEC internship in Mexico – he is looking for another job in Hong Kong
First Impressions: Great guy, and good cook (yeah, maybe a teacher?!), he seems very smart and eager to learn new things. He has a girlfriend in Hong Kong too, she is funny and smart and they are really cute together!
Two new interns have also arrived, Mantas (from Lithuania) and Fazel (from UK) so yeah! We took them hiking less than 24 hours after they arrived and they survived so that makes them great in my books (PICTURES??)
It has also been a very sad time, two of the interns that a definitely at the core of our group are leaving now for bigger and better things. Arne is going back to the Netherlands to finish his thesis and Jurgita got a scholarship to do her masters in the US (she is already gone). We had a weekend packed with farewell dinners for them; the first we went to the driving range (SO fun!) and then for Thai food, and then the next day we went for Indian in an illegal (according to Jurgita) but VERY tasty restaurant! Yummy Mango Lhasas – Kent they were almost as good as yours!
Going to miss you both so much! Best of luck in life!
